On October 24th, 2017, the Town of Virden hosted consultants from National Trust for a Main Street Boost Community Consultation. The National Trust Consultants engaged the community for two days generating ideas not only for the boost of the main street but in economic development, tourism and community development.

- Refocused job description of Economic Development Manager
- Community Expo

- Replaced Business map sign on King Street
- Community Tourism Workshop and Tourism Strategic Planning
- Created Terms of Reference and implementation of joint Tourism Board between the Town & RM of Wallace-Woodworth
- Wrote an RFP to hire consultants for a Development and Concept Design Revitalization Plan - HTFC was hired in January 2020 - the project will evolve beginning in 2020/2021
- Placemaking and brainstorming ideas for "hole" in downtown
- Creation of the local Very Virden Christmas marketing campaign
