FLOWERBED & PARK MAINTENANCE

The Town of Virden is seeking to employ a self-motivated individual with a keen interest and knowledge of flowers, shrubs, trees and landscaping to assist in its beautification projects within the community.

Preference will be given to individuals who have graduated from or are enrolled in a recognized green space management course.  Individuals with similar experience and training are encouraged to apply. This position will commence on May 6, 2019.

Employment Opportunity

Museum Coordinator Position

Full time/Seasonal – Starting May 1, 2019

Salary $17/hr

 

Located at 390 King Street, the Virden Pioneer Home Museum holds over 11,000 items relating to the Victorian era of Virden’s history.

The Virden Pioneer Home Museum is in need of a Museum Coordinator:

Responsibilities:

-       Responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the museum

-       Create and Promote various museum events

-       Promote the museum to educational institutions, media outlets, and other appropriate venues

-       Provides regular care and maintenance of collections and displays

-       Performs related duties as needed, including cleaning/housekeeping

-       Supervise summer staff including establishing duties and work schedules

Education/Skills/Experience:

-       Working knowledge of computers and programs including Word, Excel, (MS Office Suite) and Microsoft Office  Access program required

-       Ability to prioritize, and manage multiple projects and timelines

-       Experience in event planning, marketing and/or public relations

-       Project management, supervisory and fundraising experience desirable

-       Must be able to work in a team as well as be able to work independently

-       Self-Motivated

 Lifeguard/Instructor (7):

Certifications Required for Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor and Lifeguard/Instructor

- Valid First Aid Certification with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate of C-Level or higher

- Valid National Life Guard Service (NLS)

- Valid Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

- Valid Assistant Water Safety Instructor (AWSI)

- Valid Life Saving Instructor (LSI)

Assistant Lifeguard (4):

Certifications Required for Assistant Lifeguard

-  Valid First Aid Certification with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate of C-Level or higher

-  Valid Bronze Cross Certification or Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard Certification

 2019 Summer Employment 

The Town of Virden is accepting applications for summer students to be employed under the Green Team Program for the period May 6 to August 23, 2019. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 24 and hold a valid driver’s license.  Please submit your resume to the Town Office by no later than 12:00 noon on Friday March 8, 2019.
